Rose Mary Zwaga*Click on picture for tribute RACINE - Rose Mary (nee: Giacinti) Zwaga, 95, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Willow Crest Care Center in South Milwaukee. Rose was born in Racine on June 19, 1914, the daughter of the late Pericle and Concetta (nee: Crocioni) Giacinti. Rose was united in marriage to Clarence Zwaga on April 29, 1939.

She was a 1932 graduate of William Horlick High School. Rose was employed at Massey Ferguson for 25 years. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, Gethsemane Senior Group, and Roma Lodge Vittoria Colona. For many years, she enjoyed square dancing with her husband. Rose also loved cooking and playing bocce ball. Most of all, she treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Surviving are one son, Dennis (Cheryl) Zwaga of Franksville; daughter, Marie (William) Naretta of Rockford, Ill.; grandsons, Paul Naretta and Doug Zwaga; granddaughters, Nancy Pejsa, Lisa Zwaga, and Anita Zwaga; great- grandchildren, Maggie and Katie Delany, Nick Naretta, and Danny Pejsa; special nieces, Adeline Wensel and Anita Bononno; nephew, Frederick Yocco; and cousin, Eva Smercheck.

Rose is further survived by cousins in Italy, other relatives, and dear friends. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence on January 23, 1992; sister, Jennie Yocco; and brother, Remo Giacinti.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Parish on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Bill Dietzler officiating. Private burial will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until time of Mass.

   
Earl M. Carlson Racine- Earl M. Carlson, 81, passed away on Wednesday July 29, 2009 at W.F.H. All Saints. He was born on November 19, 1927 in Racine the son of Cornelius and Deborah (nee: Larson) Carlson.

Earl was united in marriage to Carlotta Fritchen on Memorial Day, 1958. He was employed at James Cape & Sons retiring after 39 years of service, and later went on to work at Bank of Elmwood for 12 years.

Earl was a former member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church and a current member of First Reformed Church. He was always a very active member of his church families including singing in the choir, church councils and property committees. Earl served in the United States Marines stationed in China and Guam. He could always be found at Hardee’s morning coffee group on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.

Earl is survived by his daughter, Cory J. Hoffmann, and son Cody Earl Hoffmann both of Racine, son Earl B. “Skip” (Virgeen) Carlson and their children, Danielle and Trevor all of Racine, two sisters, Alida Newman of Racine and Debby (Barney) Bertinuson of North Dakota. He is also survived by stepchildren, Dennis (Carla) Dyhr of Greendale, Daryl (Edith) Dyhr of New Berlin, and Sandra (Michael) Geiger of Grayslake, IL., grandchildren and great grandchildren. Earl is further survivived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carlotta on March 24, 1997, three brothers Kenneth, Belmont and Arnold and two sisters, Katherine and Margaret.

Funeral services for Earl will be held at First Reformed Church, 7110 Old Spring Street, on Saturday August 1, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Cary Winn officiating. Burial will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service time at 10:30 a .m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to First Reformed Church have been suggested by the Carlson family.

   
  Julia Beaupain, 52, formerly of Calumet City, IN, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Mary (nee: Dudzinski) Beaupain, and is survived by her brother John (Lisa) Beaupain of Griffith, IN. Also survived by nieces and nephews Joshua, Laura, Brian and Jillian Beaupain. Julia was a talented artist with a degree from Columbia College in Chicago. She was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Racine, WI.

A memorial service will be held at St. George Cemetery, Kenosha, WI at 11am Saturday, August 1st, luncheon to follow at Fellowship Baptist Church, Racine, WI

   
Gudrun Andreasen RACINE – Gudrun (nee: Houmann) Andreasen, 99, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints. Gudrun was born in Lokken Denmark on January 20, 1910, the daughter of the late Neils and Anna (nee: Sorensen) Thomsen Houmann. Her family immigrated to Racine on April 18, 1911. She and her parents returned to Denmark in 1916, where she received her education through the fifth grade and returned to Racine in 1922 to complete her education. Gudrun worked in Houmann & Son Fish Market for 17 years until her marriage to Aage ‘Charley’ Andreasen in Racine at Immanuel Lutheran Church on May 25, 1940, who preceded her in death on June 26, 1955.

Gudrun catered the meals at Dania Hall for 17 years and then was head cook at the Danish Old People’s Home for 22 years. She was and active member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and was on the Altar Committee for 36 years, a member of the Joy Circle and the former Ladies Aid. Gudrun was a member of Danish Sisterhood Victoria Lodge #5, the Danish Brotherhood Lodge # 182 and Dania Ladies. She enjoyed visiting people, listening to talking Books, stitchery and travel. Gudrun told wonderful life stories and had a fabulous memory.

Surviving are one son, Allen (Linda) Andreasen of Bella Vista, Arkansas; grandson, Todd (Nicole) Andreasen of Racine; granddaughter, Amy (Shane) Mauel of Watertown; seven great grandchildren, Chase, Mariah, Owen and Olivia Andreasen, Hailey, Hunter and Ryker Mauel; three nieces, Nana Houman-DeYoung of Ames, IA, Joyce Adelsen and Viola Adelsen Pedersen of Kenosha; one nephew, Jerome Wallace of Racine, also grand nieces, and grand nephews.

Gudrun was preceded in death by a son, Charles on January 26, 1948; a brother, George (Gerde) Houmann; two sisters, Nanna Houmann and Agnes (Peter) Adelsen; three nephews, Neils Adelsen, Anker Adelsen and Clifford Adelsen of Kenosha; two nieces, Mabel Houmann-Wallace and Betty Adelsen Heide Kuessow.

Funeral services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio St. on Thursday July 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. M.A. Miritz officiating, burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the funeral home, Wednesday evening, July 22, 2009 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday, before services from 10:30 a.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, or to Lincoln Village Convalescent Center, Activities Dept. would be appreciated

   
  RACINE – Geraldine R. ‘Geri’ (nee: Nissen) Ebe, 85, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2009 at Hospitality Nursing Home in Kenosha. Geri was born in Milwaukee on June 21, 1924, the daughter of George and Anna (nee: Borger) Nissen. Geri graduated from Washington Park High School, “Class of 1942”. She was united in marriage to Edward H. Ebe on November 16, 1946 at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member. Geri loved sewing and making crafts, along with being renowned for her cooking and baking.

She was employed over the years at Western Publishing, Doyle Handymark, Eitel’s and Boston Store.

Geri loved to travel with her husband and go camping with her family. She was very involved in the Miss Racine pageant along with being a chaperone for Miss Racine and active as a pageant judge in various cities throughout Wisconsin. She also loved every opportunity to spend time with her two grandsons.

Geri is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia (Fred) Vogt; grandsons; Darrin Vogt and Steven Vogt; brothers and sisters-in-law, George (Jo) Nissen, and Wally (Joanne) Nissen. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends in Racine further survive her.

Memorial services will be at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 2000 W. 6th Street. on Monday July 27, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Barrow officiating. (Due to church renovation, services will be held in the Mark Hurn Room) There will be a memorial visitation at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Inurnment of cremains following services will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

   
William "Bud" Noe RACINE – William “Bud” A. Noe, 92, passed away at Becker Shoop Center on Friday July 10, 2009. He was a lifelong resident of Racine born on April 16, 1917, the son of William and Lucille (nee: Kane) Noe. Bud was a 1935 graduate of William Horlick High School. On January 24, 1948 William was united in marriage to Mona M. Noe.

Bud served in the United States Army from March 1941 to December 1945. He owned and operated Northside Cities Service (Bud’s Citgo) for over 30 years.

Bud is survived by a sister Marjorie Balthazor; sister in law and brother in law, Alta and Don Schlegel. Bud is preceded in death by his wife Mona on April 7, 2009; sister, Marie Burks; brothers in law, Don Burks and Bernard Balthazor.

Graveside services will be held at Graceland Cemetery on Monday, July 13, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to visit at the cemetery from 2:00 until time of service

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army has been suggested.

   
Rose Mary Puluikis RACINE – Rose Mary (nee: Petkus) Puluikis, 88, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints. She was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on October 21, 1920 the daughter of Peter and Tekla (nee: Mataitis) Petkus. Rose was united in marriage to Paul Puluikis in Racine on October 2, 1948.

She was employed at the Racine Public Library, working at the uptown branch and the bookmobile for 42 years, retiring in 1999. She also enjoyed knitting and sewing and especially being a homemaker. Rose’s flower garden and bird watching gave her much joy and peace throughout her life. During her working career as a librarian she loved working with the children. “Some more than others”. Rose loved her family, especially her grandchildren who were most important in her life.

Rose is survived her daughters; Linda Brower of Columbus and Sally (Tim) Falaschi of Racine; grandchildren, Autumn Brower of South Milwaukee, Nathan Brower of Milwaukee, Jim (Denise) Falaschi of Racine, JadilLyn (Joe) Bachman of Shorewood and great grandson, Evan Falaschi of Racine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul on March 6, 2007; sisters, Carrie Tilton and Michaeleen Samon; brothers, Ned and Ben Petkus.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St. on Tuesday July 14, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. William Dietzler officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery Hwy 32. There will be a visitation at church from 9 a.m. until mass time at 10:30 a.m.

A very heartfelt thank you to Rose’s neighbors for their care and devotion to her over the years. Also a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care for their professionalism and care during Rose’s illness.

   
Agnes Peterson*Click on picture for tribute Racine-Agnes (nee: Maney) Peterson, 86, passed away at Golden Living Center in Kenosha on Friday July 3, 2009. She was born April 25,1923 in Waterford the daughter of Peter and Florence (nee: Patrick) Maney.

Agnes was united in marriage to John T. Peterson on May 16, 1942 in Racine. She loved to collect antique dolls, Teddy Bears and found great enjoyment with corresponding regularly with family and friends throughout the country and abroad, especially Iraq and Afghanistan.

Agnes is survived by her five daughters, Sharon K. (Mike) Saltzberry, Marsha L. (Kent) Pitlik, Kathryn L. (John) Grosman, Sandra J. (Richard) Krause and Michelle E. (Carl) Monefeldt, two sons, Kelly J. (Linda) Peterson, and John P. (Deb) Peterson,

She is also survived by twenty grandchildren, Heidi (Todd) Muehlenberg, Patrick (Amy) Saltzberry, Holly Saltzberry and fiancé Jeff Centell, Matthew (Suann) Saltzberry, Gary (Allison) Pitlik, Brian (Mary) Pitlik, Julie (Brian) Stefonek, Wendy (Scott) Plehn, Carolyn (George) Lurvey, Bradley and Michelle Pitlik, Christopher Grosman and Andrew (Beth) Grosman, Paul (Faith) and Scott (Terri) Krause, Peter and Kathleen Monefeldt, Erin and Eoin Peterson, Christopher and Kayla Peterson.

Agnes is further survived by twenty-five great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Peterson on January 4, 1999, one great granddaughter, Emma Grosman and eleven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Thursday July 9, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Steve Wohlfeil of Bethania Lutheran Church officiating. Private burial will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery. There will be a visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:30 p.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to one’s favorite charity.

   
  RACINE – Fred R. Gunther, 92, passed away at Becker Shoop Center on Saturday July 4, 2009. He was a lifelong resident of Racine born on June 30, 1917, the son of Henry and Emma (nee: Mueller) Gunther. On October 4, 1950 in Racine Fred was united in marriage to Sylvia Siefert.

Fred served in the United States Army during World War II, honorably discharged as Tech Sergeant. He received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering from U.W. Madison. Fred was an engineer for Racine Steel Castings for 34 years, retiring in 1982.

Fred and his wife, Sylvia loved to travel stateside and visit Europe, together they found great enjoyment and peace at their vacation home in Minocqua. He was a member of the Racine Yacht Club and enjoyed sailing. Fred also had a personal interest in Racine History.

Fred is survived by his nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia on January 2, 2008; brother, Henry and a sister, Sue Kasabian. There will be visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday July 8, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., then process to Mound Cemetery for the committal service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Racine Public Library have been suggested.

   
Marcella J. Wojtecki Racine-Marcella J. (nee: Bowers) Wojtecki, 87, passed away at Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove on Friday July 3, 2009. She was born in Racine on October 12, 1921, the daughter of Sidney and Dagmar (nee: Andersen) Bowers. Marcella was united in marriage to Chester Stanley Wojtecki on May 30, 1940.

Marcella was employed at Piggly Wiggly as a meat wrapper retiring after many years of service. She was a longtime faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Marcella is survived by one son, Larry (Rita) Wojtecki of Franksville, one daughter, JoAnn (Mark) Clouthier of Racine, one daughter-in-law, Karla Wojtecki of Kansasville, grandchildren, Gary (Stephanie) Wojtecki, Lesli Wojtecki, Nick (Joelle) Wojtecki, Paul Wojtecki, April Peterson, Tony Goldys, Christian Wojtecki, Erin (Andrew) Konicke, Scott (Sharon) Clouthier, Karen Edwards, and Adam (Kerry) Clouthier.

Great grandchildren, Zach, Gabriel and Faith Finfrock, Jacob, Ela and Madison Wojtecki, Tristen Blank, Norah Konicke, Sam and Isa Edwards, Jordan and Cameron Clouthier, and soon to be addition to the family, Abigail Clouthier.

She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Chester on June 4, 1987, one son, Thomas Wojtecki, one grandson, Lawrence C. Wojtecki Jr., five brothers, Roy, Muriel, Clarence, Roman and Edward Bowers, and two sisters, Irene Lentz and LaVerne Cheney.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Aiello officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on Douglas Ave. There will be a visitation at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to St. Joseph’s School.

   
Anna Martin RACINE – Anna Martin, 86, went to join her family on Friday July 3, 2009 at Lakeshore Manor. She was born in Fort Rice, North Dakota on March 29, 1923, the daughter of Kasper and Marie Eva (nee: Wetzstein) Martin.<

Anna moved to Racine in 1941 to be reunited with her sisters who relocated to Racine.

She was formerly employed with Wisconsin Telephone Company as a switchboard operator retiring in 1980 after 35 years of service.

Anna was preceded in death by her two brothers, Joseph and Mathias Martin, four sisters, Barbara, Mae and Rose Martin and Mathilda Anderson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Monica’s Senior Citizen Home, 3920 N. Green Bay Rd. on Tuesday July 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Daniels officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. There will be a visitation at St. Monica’s from 9:00 a.m. until mass time.

Special thanks to her faithful and loving caregivers; Mollie, Ireta, Cylintia, Rumy and Carol. Anna was very blessed to have you as her family.

   
Josefina Amaya Garcia*Click on picture for tribute RACINE – Josefina Amaya Garcia, 83, went to be with the Lord on Friday July 3, 2009. She was born in Crystal City, Texas on September 11, 1925 the daughter of Miguel and Sabina (nee: Garcia) Amaya. Josefina was united in marriage to Rodolfo Garcia in Morehead, Minnesota on August 13,1941. She attended St. Edward’s Catholic Church for many years. Josefina enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also found great enjoyment in listening to music, dancing and especially shopping with cousin Maria “Cuca” Garcia.

Josefina is survived by her three daughters, Olga (Dennis) Swindle of Arlington, TX, Esmeralda Garcia-Flores, Josefina (Victor) Huarota all of Racine; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Pablo (Eva) Amaya of Racine, Juan (Lupe) Amaya of Racine; sisters, Estefana (Alfredo) Rodriguez of Crystal City, TX and Micaela Lopez of Racine.

She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. Josefina was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Rodolfo Garcia Sr. on November 27, 1980, one son, Rodolfo Garcia Jr. on August 14, 1993 and one sister Ernestina Hernandez on February 27, 2008.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 1430 Grove Ave, on Thursday July 9, 2009 at 12:00 noon, with Fr. Richard Molter officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery on Douglas Ave. There will be a visitation at church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until mass time.

   
Irene "Wee" Rose Reimers Racine- formerly of Mundelein, Ill.- Irene “Wee” Rose Reimers, 79, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints on June 22, 2009. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 27, 1929 the daughter of Michael and Katarina (nee: Matijevich) Viljac.

Irene retired from Baxter-Travenol in Illinois after more than 10 years of service. She loved to golf at Countryside Golf Course in Mundelein, along with singing, dancing and music. Irene found most of her joy cooking, especially on Sunday’s surrounded by her family, while enjoying a good game of scrabble.

Irene is survived by her loving sons, Phillip of Dallas, Texas, Glen (Chris) of Aurora, Ill., Gary of Plymouth, WI and James of Dallas, Texas, one sister, Julie Tamblyn of Clinton, Mass., grandchildren, Jeremy (Kristin) Reimers, Erik Reimers, Aviation Technician-Ashley Reimers, serving with the United States Navy, stationed on the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan, Alyssa, Kyle, Luke, Kristopher, and Katarina Reimers.

She is also survived by sister-in-law, Barbara Viljac, and a brother-in-law, Jack Evans, dear family members, Larry and Jan Reimers, former daughter-in-law, Tracey Cochran and special friends, Delores Citterman and Carol Demski, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends in Racine, Mundelein and Dallas.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Evans, one brother, Tom Viljac, brother-in-law Gerald Tamblyn, special friend, Anne Wieser and former husband, Cecil Reimers.

In keeping with Irene’s wishes cremation has taken place, with burial to be held at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, Ill. on July 10, 2009 at 11:00 am in the chapel.

Joseph J. Hartmanstorfer Racine- Joseph J. Hartmanstorfer, 45, died on Monday June 29, 2009 of natural causes at his residence. He was born in Milwaukee, on July 15, 1963. Joe attended St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church and grade school, J.I. Case High School and served in the U.S. Army.

Most recently, he made his living as a professional painter. Joe will be missed for his love of cooking, his dedication to the Green Bay Packers, and his prowess at card games, especially cribbage and pinochle. His cheerful disposition and sense of humor entertained many in his life.

Joe is survived by his three sons, Specialist Christopher (Holly) Hartmanstorfer, serving is the U.S. Army stationed in Wiesbaden Germany, Matthew, and Brian Hartmanstorfer. Immediate family members, including parents, John (Pat) Hartmanstorfer, siblings, Cindi (Bill) Pierson of Charles, Iowa, Chief Petty Officer, Dan (Vicki) Hartmanstorfer, U.S. Navy Retired, of Huntington, West Virginia, Becky (Dave) Ryan of Madison, Amy (Major Tom Matelski, U.S. Army, stationed in Afghanistan) Matelski of Tampa, Florida, Mary (Thomas) Sheldon of Menominee Falls, and Caroline Hartmanstorfer of Racine.

Joe also leaves behind his beloved godmother, Delores Jones.

Joe will be sadly missed by his special friend and life partner, Theresa Salinas and her daughter, Kellie. As a member of a large extended family, Joe also leaves behind countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Schroeder, grandparents, Joseph (Caroline) Hartmanstorfer and Glenn (Ruth) Jones.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Sebastian’s Congregation, 3126 95th Street, Sturtevant on Tuesday July 7, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Raczynski officiating. There will be a visitation at church on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until mass time. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family in Joe’s name would be appreciated.
