Anne Marie Baird

Anne Marie Baird RACINE – Anne Marie (nee: Stulac) Baird, 94, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, April 21, 2013. She was born in Ironwood, Michigan on July 21, 1918, the daughter of the late Florian and Barbara (nee: Merensic) Stulac. Also preceded in death by ten siblings, Frank, Nickolas, John, Joseph, George, Peter, Kay, Mary and infant twins. Anne moved to Racine after high school and started as a cook, later becoming head cook for St. Luke’s Hospital, where she met the love of her life, Warren H. Baird. They were married for over 55 years, until his death on January 4, 1999. Anne was a seamstress and homemaker. Her draperies were displayed all over town at restaurants and businesses. Her passion was always baking and cooking. She loved to knit, tend to her flower garden and watch her birds out the kitchen window. Anne cherished her daily visits with her friend and neighbor Dawn Martinez. Anne donated her baked goods to the Sacred Heart Festival and knitted doll clothes for the Toys for Tots organization. She is survived by her daughter, Linda ‘Lindy’ Jirek of Fort Worth, TX; two sons, Terrence (Susan) Baird of Cherokee Village, AK and Steven (Tanni) Baird of Racine; six grandchildren, Daniel (Jill) Jirek, Sarah (Nathan Passavant) Jirek, Tony Baird, Theresa Anderson, Jolynn Baird and Cori (Tommy) Hogue; seven great grandchildren, Jessica Jirek, Jacob Jirek, Christian Jirek, Erica Petersen, Erin Baird, Kai Castillo and Tessa Hogue and one great great granddaughter, Mila Hinthorne. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 7 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in a private ceremony. There will be a visitation at the church on Thursday, before services, from 5 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. The Baird family would like to thank Jeff, Dawn, Maggie and Josh Martinez for all their support, love and friendship to Granma Annie and to thank Wheaton Franciscan Hospice for their care and kindness to Anne.
