Arthur "Art" Callewaert

Arthur C. Callewaert FRANKSVILLE – Arthur “Art” C. Callewaert, 86, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – Franklin. Art was born in Sturtevant on April 13, 1925, the son of the late Urbain and Alida (nee: Everaerdt) Callewaert. On February 15, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marie Klimowicz in Racine. Art had been employed with Klema Feeds, Trautman Nursery, was a pinsetter at The Golf Bowl, and a product maker for Johnson Wax, retiring after 38 years of service. He also owned and operated Callewaert Nursery for more than 30 years. Art was a member of St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church, Circle 8 Square Dance Club and Calico Cloggers. In addition he was a member of Community Travel Harvest Club, Johnson Wax 20 year Club and a longtime member of Wisconsin Nurserymen’s Association. In his spare time he enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and football. He also enjoyed woodworking, playing cribbage, nursery, landscaping and crafts. Art’s passion in life was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved attending their sporting events, school activities and just spending time with them. You could always count on Art to show up at a birthday party with an ice cream cake and pull tabs. Art is survived by his children, Cathy (John) Jacyna, Dave (Jean) Callewaert all of Franksville, Dennis (Chris) Callewaert of Redgranite, Debbie (Mark) Hammond of Franksville, Diane Clapper of Greer, SC and Cheri Paulick of Racine; 15 grandchildren, Steve, Mike, Katie, Jason, Shelly, Becky, Julie, Wade, Stacy, Nathan, Nicole, Richard, Ashley, Chris and Dani; 13 great grandchildren, Cameron, Kiera, Addy, Jayda, Noah, Evan, Grace, Taylor, Cody, Elly, Waylon, Cassie and Amya. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Art was preceded in death by his wife, Marie in 2001, two sisters, Angeline Isaacson, Martha Cox, and one brother, Leonard Callewaert. Funeral services will be celebrated at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church, 3126 95th St. Sturtevant on Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., followed by a mass of Christian Burial.
