Catherine "Cathie" Mocarski

Catherine P. Mocarski RACINE-Cathie Puta Mocarski, 61, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints on Wednesday March 20, 2013, with her family by her side. Cathie was born in Manitowoc on August 30, 1951 the daughter of the late Ruben and Gertrude (nee: Novak) Puta. Cathie was a strong independent woman before it was in vogue to be strong and independent. She sailed around the world. Cathie helped start Specialized Transportation, Meals on Wheels and other senior citizen programs in Racine and balanced the budget for Racine County Human Services. Cathie loved and was loved in return. She found great enjoyment in crafting, beading and gardening, but her greatest joy was spending time with her “Grandbabies.” She raised her children to do for others - always. She was a graduate of St. Gregory High School in St Nazianz, WI and furthered her education obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Dominican College in 1974. Cathie was united in marriage to Tim Mocarski in Racine on September 9, 1972. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Cathie was Chief Financial Officer for Racine County Human Services retiring after 20 years of service due to health reasons. Cathie is survived by her husband of 40 years, Tim, children, Jessica (Darrell) Borkowski of Cudahy, son Joshua of Racine, and grandchildren, Jarrett Robert and Addison Catherine. She is further survived by her three sisters, Ruth, Janice, and Diane, a brother, Joseph, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends in Racine and the Manitowoc area. Cathie was preceded in death by her brother Edward Puta. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St. on Tuesday March 26th 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Terry Huebner officiating. Visitation will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Monday, March 25, 2013 from 5 until 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until mass time. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Cathie in a special way may direct memorials to one’s favorite charity or the children section of your favorite public library.Cathie’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses in the I.C.U. at WFH-All Saints for their excellent and compassionate care.
