Helen Mae Keller

Helen M. Keller, age 90, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, in Racine, Wisconsin, surrounded by the love of her devoted children, Sandra and Robert, who remained at her side during her final days. Born on October 9, 1934, in Racine, Helen was the cherished daughter of Emil and Valasta Just. She took great pride in her family‘s legacy, particularly the Just Bakery – it’s name still visible today on an old building along Douglas Avenue. Helen graduated from Horlick High School in 1952 and later married the love of her life, Arthur Keller of Kulm, North Dakota. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two children, Sandra and Robert. Helen and Arthur shared over 50 joyful years of marriage before Arthur’s passing in 2012—a loss she bore with quiet grace and enduring love. Helen was the heart of her family, a deeply devoted mother whose warmth, strength, and kindness were felt by all who knew her. Beyond her home, she served faithfully as an office manager for Dr. Albin Schleper and later for Dr. Jennifer Park, with whom she shared a lasting friendship. A woman of deep faith, Helen was a longtime and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and School. She gave generously of her time and spirit, serving on the Altar Guild, Ladies Aid, leading the Trinity Troopers, and teaching others through the Bethel Bible Series—a role she cherished deeply. Helen’s legacy is one of compassion, faith, and selfless love. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel seen, valued, and cared for. In her later years, Helen made her home at St. Monica’s Assisted Living, where she was surrounded by a compassionate community of caregivers and friends. She was loved there, and the staff often spoke of her warmth, dignity, and gentle spirit. Helen leaves behind her children, Sandra Jakus and Robert Keller; her treasured grandchildren, Adam, Haley, Elliot, and Alina; and her brother, Douglas Just. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved and all who were blessed to know her. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2065 Geneva St. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Visitation will be at church from 10 AM to 11 AM with services scheduled immediately after the visitation. A fellowship gathering will take place at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Helen in a special way are asked to direct memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid.
