James A. Meinert

James A. Meinert RACINE- Mr. James A. Meinert, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday April 21, 2011. He will be deeply missed. Jim was born in Racine to the late Peter and Anita (nee: Meissner) Meinert on December 19, 1930. He graduated from Lutheran High School in 1949 and continued to be a local supporter of Lutheran High his entire life. On June 4th, 1955 he was united in marriage to Darlene Jandl. Jim and Darlene had two children, Lori in 1956 and Lance in 1960. Jim cherished and deeply loved his family including his one and only grandson Peter. Jim lived in Racine his entire life. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He served on the finance committee and was an usher and willing to help out whenever needed. Jim enjoyed his outdoor sports; including hunting, fishing, snow skiing, golfing, riding his bike and ice skating with his friends at the Pettit Ice Center. He was an accomplished wood worker, making many beautiful things for his wife, Darlene, his family and friends. Jim is survived by his wife Darlene; two children, Lori (Grant) Ellis and Lance Meinert; two sisters, Jacquie (Gene) Picard, Judy (Jim) Lamers; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Russell (Lorraine) Jandl. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, especially closest and dearest friend Glen Johnson. Jim is preceded in death by his parents; uncles, Lawrence and Ellert Meissner; Nephew, Rodney Lamers; sisters-in-law, June Patterson, Dorothy Jandl, Corrine Jandl; brothers-in-law, Floyd, Charles and Robert Jandl and Bob Patterson. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Jennings officiating. Jim will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Lutheran High School have been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks from Jim’s family to Dr. Mullane, Dr. Gullberg and the entire staff at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints and Hospice Alliance in Kenosha for their compassionate care and their support.
