John "Jack" Morey

John T. “Jack” Morey, Jr. RACINE- John T. “Jack” Morey, Jr., age 86, passed away early Monday, August 3, 2015, at his residence, with his wife Nancy and son, Michael, at his side. He had gallantly battled Parkinson’s disease and Dementia. Jack was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 14, 1928, son of John T. and Mary Catherine “Mae” (Nee: Farrell) Morey. He graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1947.” Jack enlisted in the U.S. Occupation Army and served as a PFC, primarily in Japan, following WWII. He earned expert rifleman status, during this time. On July 15, 1950, Jack was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Nancy L. Mogensen, at St. Rose Church in Racine. They were together for over 65 years, and no two were ever more devoted to, or in love with, each other. After completing his certification from Milwaukee School of Engineering, during the 1950’s, Jack worked in the field of Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning. From 1961 to the late 1990’s, he owned and operated Capitol Refrigeration, serving Racine and the surrounding area. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who set a fine example for his family. He was a true outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing and sailing his sail boats. He was also an avid fly-fisherman and a great go-to Mr. Fix It-guy. Jack is survived by his wife, Nancy; their children, John (Nancy) and Michael, both of Racine and Daniel, of Lake Nebagamon, WI, along with his brother, James (Carol Scheel)), his grandchildren, Valerie (Daniel Bosch) Morey, John (Kari), Morey, Erin (Daniel Vargas) Morey, Philip Kajawa, Sean Morey, Shane Morey and his great grandchildren Hannah, Kiara, Patrick, Azalea, Arya, and Kienan. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert and Thomas, and great-granddaughter, Julia. Special thanks to Nancy’s brother and his wife, Wayne (Joanne) Behrens, for there love, help and support. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave., Racine, WI on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 2:00pm, with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family, at the church, from 12:30pm until mass time at 2:00pm. Jack will be laid to rest with full military honors at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Health Care Network or a charity of your choice.
