Maragaret "Marge" McCombs

Margaret ‘Marge’ McCombs RACINE - Margaret 'Marge McCombs, passed away peacefully in her sleep early in the morning of September 12, 2015 at Ridgewood Care Center in Racine, where she had resided for the last sixteen months. Margaret was born in Racine to the late Earnest and Agnes (Cullen) Leicht on May 7, 1914. She was one of five siblings, brothers, Raymond, Earnest, Royal and August Leicht. Margaret resided in Racine for the entirety of her 101 years, living in her home on Ohio Street for the last twenty years until her 100th birthday. She was a graduate of St. Catherine's High School "Class of 1932" and retired from Medical Products in 1980. Margaret was married to William McCombs and together they raised five children. Margaret was a supportive, caring and compassionate mother and grandmother, as well as a sincere and popular friend. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and an accomplished letter writer, who was fondly remembered by many on birthdays and holidays. In her 101 years Margaret faced many challenges that she met with courage, independence, resiliency and humor. She made few demands on others and led her life with a quiet dignity to the very end. Margaret is survived by her children, Kay McCombs, Dennis (Cathy) McCombs and John (Ann) McCombs and son-in-law, Ernest Iversen. Margaret is also survived by nine loving grandchildren, Diane Iversen, Cheryl Iversen, Tom Iversen, Mathew McCombs, Megan McCombs, Ryan McCombs, Shana Piaskoski, Kelly McCombs and Kate McCombs; five great grandchildren, Alec Reed, Quinn Iversen, Madison Iversen, Roman Piaskoski and Cooper McCombs. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William, daughter, Patricia Iversen and son, William McCombs. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11 a.m. Marge will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Saturday before services from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Ridgewood for the loving care provided to Marge over the past year.
