Nancy H. D'Amour

Nancy H. D’Amour RACINE – Nancy H. (nee: Jorns) D’Amour, 64, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Wheaton Franciscan All-Saints Hospice. She was born in Menomonee Falls, WI on August 16, 1949, the daughter of Arnold and Blanche (nee: Wick) Jorns. Nancy was a graduate of Oconomowoc High School “Class of 1967”. She continued her education, graduating from UW- Oshkosh in 1971, with degrees in Sociology and Psychology. On June 9, 1973 Nancy was united in marriage to Michael D’Amour at Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. She was a very active member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Racine, loyally serving the church for more than 25 years. Her involvement included the Church Council, Endowment Board, Finance Committee, Board of Trustees and Youth Programs. She also was a member of the Racine Country Club. Nancy’s working career began in 1972 at First Financial Assoc. (today, Associated Bank) ending with them in 1986 as Vice President, SE Wisconsin. She was also a licensed real-estate broker for more than 40 years. Since 1986 Nancy was the “Homemaker Extraordinaire” and second mother to many. She enjoyed entertaining, baking, golf, walks on the beach, swimming, mahjong with the girls, and annual trips to Europe with her International Bridging Cultures Group, Zurich, Switzerland. There was nothing she loved more than spending time with her family and friends. Her beautiful heart and radiant smile will be forever treasured and remembered. Surviving is her devoted husband of 41 years, Michael D’Amour of Racine; daughters, Nicole (Edwin) D’Amour Sandle of Racine and Martine Alyse (Kevin Rupp) D’Amour of Leesburg, VA; mother, Blanche Jorns of Oconomowoc; sister, Kathy Jorns of Eagle River. She is further survived by loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father Arnold Jorns. Visitation will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio St. Racine, WI. on Thursday May 8, 2014 from 1 pm until service time at 4 pm. With Rev. Black officiating. Nancy will be laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Nancy in a special way may direct memorials to “The Nancy D’Amour Endowment Fund”, which donates funds back to the community that she loved to serve. The D’Amour’s would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Wheaton Franciscan Hospital, ICU and Hospice care in Racine for their tireless care and compassion.
