Shirley L. Drews

Shirley L. Drews RACINE-Shirley L. Drews, 77, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints on Wednesday August 21, 2013. Shirley was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. on October 2, 1935 the daughter of the late Howard and Clyde Louise Gann. She was united in marriage to Duane O. Drews in Georgia on February 21, 1953. Shirley was a longtime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, proud member of NARFE, and found great enjoyment volunteering for Lincoln Lutheran of Racine Adult Daycare. She retired from Andis Clipper Company in 1994 after several years of service. Shirley was an avid animal lover willing to take in and care for any animal that needed love and some special gentle care. She was a very special lady and friend to all she met. Shirley not only gave love unconditionally, she received loved by those that crossed paths with her during life, even up until her final days. Shirley is survived by her loving husband of over 60 years, Duane, son, Steven D. (Tracy) Drews, daughter, Olivia L Drews Thompson, grandsons, Timothy, Duane, Chris and Nathan Drews and granddaughter, Chelsea Drews. She is further survived by great grandsons, Damon and Anthony Drews, four sisters, two brothers, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her in-laws and other family members. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Monday August 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Roekle officiating. She will be laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove following services. Visitation will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Shirley in a special way may direct memorials to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 728 Villa, St. Racine, WI 53403. The entire Drews family would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Chaplain Dave VanBuren, the surgical and ICU staff and attending doctors at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care, and a special thank you to Angela Carravetta-Drews for her special loving attention.
