Shirley M. Molbeck

Shirley M. Molbeck RACINE – Shirley Mae Molbeck, 78, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. She was born in Racine on September 3, 1932, the daughter of the late Reynold and Lillian (nee: Reidi) Skelton. Shirley was united in marriage to James W. Molbeck on August 9, 1952. She graduated from Wm Horlick High School in 1952. In 1949 Shirley was chosen Miss Racine. Shirley was very involved with Racine Theatre Guild, where she was able to express her passion for music and theatre. She was an active church member, including singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. She also enjoyed the friendship of her lifelong card club. After giving birth to her seventh child, Shirley went back to school and fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She always said the happiest time of her life was when her children were born. Shirley took pleasure in collecting grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the “light of her life.” She will be dearly missed by all. Surviving is her husband of almost 59 years, Jim; and their children; Debbie (Jeff) Pulda, Cher (Steve) Gaskill, Scott (Kim) Molbeck, Kelly (Mark) Borkovec, Randy (Terri) Molbeck and Tracie (Don) Herode; sister, Gloria (Walter) Bowman; close cousin, Willene (Gill) Yohn; grandchildren, Brian, Cori and Amy Pulda, Joshua, Jaymie and Jessica Christofferson, Kari and Megan Johnson, Jake and Eric Staven, Samantha and Scooter Molbeck, Charles and Danielle Raine, Mathew, Michaela, McKenzie and Mitchell Borkovec, Andrew Molbeck, Cody Larson, Ashley and Taner Bacon, Hailey, Donnie and Brittany Herode; 12 great grandchildren and still counting. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joan. Memorial services will be held at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio St. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Melvin Miritz officiating. There will be a time for family and friends to meet at the church on Monday, before services from 10 until time of service at 11 a.m. Private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church have been suggested.
