Stephen "Steve" Johnson

Stephen K. Johnson RACINE - Stephen “Steve” Karl Johnson, 56, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Wheaton Franciscan, All Saints in Racine. He was born in Racine on July 29, 1959 the son of Frederick and Carol (nee: Tigges) Johnson. In 1977, Steve graduated from Racine Lutheran High School, and over the years, worked at Hydraulic Fluid Power, Ron Stein Remodeling, and InSinkErator. Steve was a lifelong and faithful member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and gardening. He also loved restoring antiques, and taking his dog, Shadow, for long walks. Steve is survived by his father, Frederick; brothers, Frederick (Christina) Johnson, and David (Donna) Johnson along with other beloved family members; Beth (Trent) Thornton, Frederick Johnson, Isabela (Alex) Wagener, Renata (Pablo) Escobedo, Samantha and Michael Johnson and Christopher Murphy, Louie Murphy, Kaitlyn Thornton, Emily Leskowitz, Katherine Leskowitz, Joanne and Mark Leskowitz, He is further survived by aunts, Marion Olsen, Dawn Tigges, Joyce Tigges, and Del Roberts in addition to many cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Johnson in March of 2015, infant brother, Theodore “Teddy” Johnson, and sisters-in-law; Luann and Carolyn. Steve’s funeral service will be held at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 728 Villa St. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11 a.m., with Pastor John Roekle officiating. Visitation will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 5 until 7 pm and will continue at church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Following services Steve will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Steve in a special way may direct memorials to First Ev. Lutheran Church. Our heartfelt thanks to the entire nursing staff on 2C at All Saints, for providing extraordinary care to Steve over the past month. Rachel, Amanda, Heather, Derrick, Chris, and Stephane - your kindness and love will be remembered forever.
