Terri Jackel

Therese J. “Terri” Jackel RACINE-Therese J. “Terri” Jackel, 56, passed away on March 19, 2015, her 24th wedding anniversary after courageously battling diabetes for the past 48 years. She was born in Racine on June 29, 1958, the daughter of Philip and Lillian (nee: Policicchio) Marry. Terri was a graduate of Washington Park High School, “Class of 1976”; she continued her education, while attending Alverno College. On March 19, 1991, Terri was united in marriage to Peter K. Jackel at St. Rose Catholic Church. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, sang in the church choir, and was very active with parish council. Terri was employed as a dental assistant at various dental offices in the Racine and Kenosha areas, retiring in 1994 after 16 years of service. For many years, Terri proudly and enthusiastically served the Racine community with the Democratic Party. Through the generosity of others, Terri received a kidney and pancreas transplant in January of 2008. This most gracious gift and unselfish gesture afforded her a new life, for which she was eternally grateful and embraced each and every new day. Terri is survived by her husband of 24 years, Peter Jackel of Racine; two brothers and one sister, Phil (Jennifer Livermore) Marry of Kenosha, Lilli (Donald) Mahaffy of Allendale, Mich. and Daniel Marry of California. She is further survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest (Dolores) Jackel, brother-in-law, Paul Jackel, all of Racine; three nieces and one nephew, Hannah and Max Jackel and Katie and Megan Mahaffy. Terri is also survived by other family members and many, many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law, Greg Jackel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Ave. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating. Visitation will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. with prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at church from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Following mass, Terri will be laid to rest near her parents at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy. 32. The Jackel family would like to take this opportunity to publicly express their profound gratitude to the Surgical and Cardiac Intensive Care Units, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Milwaukee, for their compassion and genuine care.
