Thomas N. Urick

RACINE – Thomas N. Urick, (Tom), 82, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. He was born in Racine, WI on May 20, 1943 to the late Nicholas and Agnes (Domers) Urick. Tom was united in marriage to Blanche Critzman and were married 34 years before her passing in 2008. He served in the United States Air Force, Airman Second Class. Tom worked as a laborer most of his life and later owned and operated The Green Bar for many years. He was a lover of animals and was a softy for cats, even feeding the neighborhood strays and building heated shelters for them in the winter months. He was a very generous person. There were not many things Tom could not build or fix. A line from a movie once stated, “my dad has an awesome set of tools.” Well, my dad actually did. Growing up I would invite my friends over to my dad’s garage where we would clean the bearings in our skateboard wheels in his part’s washer or apply epoxy and fiberglass to our skim boards. My dad built me several motorcycles and even my first electric guitar. He was truly gifted with his hands. His only grandson, Nolan, who is 12 years old had this to say: To me, grandpa was always finding ways to make me happy. He gave me gifts that always were related to my interests, and when my interests changed, he would know and would make me happy in a different way. He would ask me about my time at school and try to really connect with me despite the fact that we did not have time to see each other much. He was always loving to his cats, and he had many things to keep the cats as happy as possible. He would always let me use his stuff, even though he knew I could break some of his favorite things. I always sent him cards with drawings that he would hang up and look at constantly. He was truly a great man. Tom is survived by his son, Nick, (Johanna); grandson, Nolan; siblings, Virginia, Jacob, and Glen (Jeanette) Urick. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; son, Scott; Brothers, Richard (Nancy), Jerry (Nancy), and Sister Rose. In keeping with Tom’s wishes, private services will take place at a later date.
