May 2, 1986 - June 22, 2019
Elena Juanita Guzman suddenly passed away June 22, 2019 leaving behind a colorful family she was very proud of. She lived 1,000 years in the 33 years she spent on this planet because she celebrated life and wasn’t afraid to pick up the pieces, adjust her crown and keep er movin. Born on her grandmother’s birthday, May 2, 1986, Elena gave Randall and Kimberly (Kraus) Guzman a run for their money. She graduated from Washington Park High School in 2004 and worked at guest services for Ascension All Saints Hospital. Elena played softball all her life and loved playing in summer tournaments for City League Softball, Por La Gente and Latin Athletic Club until her body didn’t allow her to anymore. Her love for all things Brewers and #87 was notorious and borderline obsessive. Her wit and humor can only be matched by her stunning beauty and immaculate tan. Elena was a fierce warrior who fought for her health for almost 10 years and couldn’t do it without the help of the amazing staff at DaVita Dialysis Center. The family would like to thank Dr. Brennan, Dr. Xie, Sue and especially David. She spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital, or her “weekend resort”, and she really appreciated all the nurses who took the time to talk to her. Your genuine hard work did not go unnoticed. Elena will forever be missed by her daughter Giselle Nadine Nelson; parents, Randall and Kimberly Guzman; and her beautiful sisters Stacey Guzman and Antonia Guzman. She was preceded in death by her loving grandparents Don and Helen Kraus. As well as, the father of their daughter Giselle, Josh Nelson. A memorial service for Elena will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 4 p.m. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donate directly to an education fund for Giselle Nadine Nelson. Elena was a wonderful sister and a hell of a mom. She would want everyone to remember to smile and not to take life so seriously.
