September 6, 1954 - June 30, 2020 Racine - Manuel Ruiz Zuniga, Sr., 65, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. He was born in San Antonio, TX on September 6, 1954, the son of Tomas and Grabilla (Ruiz) Zuniga. Manuel was united in marriage to Odelia Vera on May 24, 1975. He has been employed at Great Northern for over 10 years and retired from Midland Container in 2019. Manuel's joy was his cherished grandchildren. He was a happy person, quite the jokester. He enjoyed gambling at the casino and scratching his lottery tickets, loved music, festivals, most of all being with his family and friends. Surviving is his wife, Odelia of 45 years and their 5 children, Manuel Jr. (Gracie) Zuniga, Andrew (Casey McBride) Zuniga, Veronica (Rey) Aranda, Jennifer (Anthony) Nava and Angel (Kourtney Jesmer) Zuniga; 17 grandchildren, Manuel, Andrew, Marissa, Brandi, Mario, Jenisse, Madalina, Jayden, Jesse, Azzaraya, Santiago, Jesse Jr, Thomas, Sipriano, Valentino, Cruzsito and Angel II; two great grandchildren, Luciano Zuniga and Emilliano Alcarez. He is further survived by his siblings, Mona (Ralph) Lopez, Jesus (Terry) Zuniga, Roland (Mary Helen) Zuniga, Maria (Lorenzo) Tijernia, Sylvia Puente and David Zuniga, many other relatives and friends. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Jesus Angelito Nava, brothers, Robert and Tomas Zuniga; nephews, Roland Jr. Zuniga and Thomas Lopez. Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 4 p.m. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12 noon until time of service. There is a a limit of 25 people in the funeral home at a time. Therefore, you may have to wait outside until others leave the building. For those wishing to remember Manuel in a special way, memorials to the American Cancer Society has been suggested. The funeral service will be webcasted live at 4 p.m. on the funeral home website. The webcast will also be available to watch later as well.
