Robert "Bob" Verborg

March 3, 1942 - April 23, 2022

Robert James “Bob” Verborg, 80, of Sturtevant, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Ascension All Saints Hospital-Racine. Bob was born on March 3, 1942, to Gaston and Mae (nee: Parr) Verborg. He attended Rochester Agricultural School and Union Grove High School, graduating in 1960. Bob was united in marriage to Arlene Newman on January 16, 1965, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. He was a coach for youth basketball and softball in Sturtevant and was employed at Racine Lutheran High School for eight and a half years doing evening custodial care. Bob worshipped during Saturday afternoon services at Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant, and at Pentecost Lutheran Church in Racine until 2020. For 31 years, he was a certified welder at J.I. Case Company and Clausen Works, retiring in 2001. Bob will be missed by his wife of 57 years, Arlene; son, Robert J. Verborg, Jr.; daughter, Alice (Gary) Lauber; grandchildren, Thomas, Lilith, Christopher, Sarah, Katie, John, Emily, and Megan; great-grandchildren, Jordan, and Anthony; Buddy the dog; Shadow and Blackie the cats, and many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gaston and Mae Verborg; son, Charles Verborg and brother, Ron. A public visitation will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Friday April 29, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. concluding with full military honors. Bob will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy.32. Those wishing to remember Bob is a special way, please direct memorials to Sealed Air Y.M.C.A. in Mt. Pleasant.
