Cathy Louise Aber

Cathy Louise Aber (Zeh) August 29th1950-May 27, 2025 Cathy L. Aber (Zeh) was born in Richland, Washington on August 29th, 1950, to Robert and Joyce (Dale) Zeh. She was the second oldest of 4. Her family moved to Union Grove, Wisconsin in spring of 1951 where she graduated from Union Grove High school in 1968. Cathy became a successful hair stylist and business owner of Smart Set Salon in Racine, WI where she eventually retired although still continued to our family hair stylist. Cathy married the love of her life, John Aber in 1976 and have two grown children: Shana (John) and Martin (Jenny). She has been blessed with two beautiful and sweet granddaughters, Emily and Molly. Cathy has left behind many loved ones including Linda Hunn (Zeh), Dale Rinkel (Zeh ), David Zeh, Cory (Lois) Aber, Paul (Kathy) Aber and many nieces and nephews. As we grieve the loss of Cathy, we are reminded of her zest for life, her contagious laugh, and her no-nonsense attitude. Most importantly was a pillar for so many of us in the Aber family. She was always welcoming new and old family and friends as she hosted so many of our family gatherings from Thanksgiving, Christmas, 4th of July breakfasts with traditional ableskiver. She would always tell colorful stories after celebrating with a glass of wine or two from her favorite winery, Wollersheim Winery. When Cathy wasn’t working at the salon or entertaining family, she enjoyed sewing costumes for Halloween and other events for her children and nieces. She taught many of us how to sew from patterns. She was also part of a bowling league and played Dart ball with her husband and late niece, Audrey. Many gatherings would involve card games such as sheep’s head. Cathy was a loving and supportive wife, mother, aunt and grandma who will be missed dearly. Cathy passed away at home with her husband by her side. Cathy’s wish was to not make a fuss over her with a memorial, so we ask that in remembrance of her, toast a glass of wine in honor of her and share a story or a memory of her, or plant daisies in your garden for her as it was one of her favorite flowers.
