Clayton Vivian Janney

Clayton V. Janney RACINE – Clayton V. Janney, 93, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove. He was born in Richland Center on August 5, 1921, the son of the late Vivian and Maude (nee: Hooper) Janney. On June 1, 1946, Clayton was united in marriage to Bernardine Krueger in Forest Park, IL. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II in the 82nd Airborne Division, receiving a Purple Heart and two Bronze Battle Stars. Clayton was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church and the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are his children, Clayton (Joan) Janney, Mary-Michael (Dan) Weilandt, Gerard (Nancy) Janney, Jeannine (Dr. Steve) Pagano, Bernard (Amy) Janney, Peter (Aydee) Janney, Lori (Jim) Kleifgen and Peggy (Jim) Chiumiento, son-in-law, Paul Dubovik; tons of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his loving sister, Arlene Heinzelman. Clayton is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernardine, daughter, Barbara Dubovik, son, Michael Janney and great grandson, Jeremiah Dubovik. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Clayton will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation will be held at the Sturino Funeral Home on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Clayton in a special way may direct memorials to the Disabled American Veterans Racine Chapter or to WoundedWarriorProject.org. Clayton’s family takes this opportunity to publicly express their profound gratitude to the staff at The Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in Union Grove for their thorough and attentive care and gentle manner shown to our father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend over the past four years.
