Clifford Walter Wiegand

Clifford Walter Wiegand, 83, of Racine, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at home with his family by his side. Clifford was born in Racine on June 29, 1942, to Walter and Mary (née Langberg) Wiegand. He married Karen Sorensen on October 21, 1961. The two met at Racine Lutheran High School and went on to share almost 65 years together — caring for family, spending time with friends, and raising their children. Clifford worked for 25 years at Schultz's Piggly Wiggly, starting as a stocker and working his way up to manager. He later became a sales representative for Milwaukee Biscuit, and finished his career with Marcus Corporation, where he served as a manager and project manager for the company's hotels until his retirement. Clifford and Karen loved to travel, and their last trip together — to Hawaii — fulfilled a long-held item on his bucket list. Over the years they visited many states, including stops at Ellis Island and Galveston, Texas, to see the immigration ports his family had passed through upon arriving in the United States. He cherished time with family and friends, manning the grill at cookouts, enjoying a few beers, and cheering on his granddaughters and great-grandchildren at their sporting events. He loved a good game of "Don't Get Mad" or cribbage, and was always ready to share a story and make a memory. Clifford is survived by his wife, Karen, of almost 65 years; his son, Walter Wiegand, and Walter's children, Josie (Derek Price) Herman and Tanya (Jason Weeks) Rasmussen; his daughter, Heidi (James) Dowden, and Heidi's children, Nicole (Patrick) Vash, Jessica (Cameron) Gandy, and Ashlee (Tony) Anzalone; 10 Great Grandchildren, his sister, MaryAnn Isaccson; sisters-in-law Sharilyn Poulsen and Marilyn Tesmann; brother-in-law, Burt Lounsbury; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Wiegand; his brother, Donald Wiegand; his daughter-in-law, Heidi Ann Wiegand; his parents-in-law, John and Harriet Sorensen; brothers-in-law John and Michael Sorensen, Don Isaccson, Eugene Tessman, and Robert Poulsen; sisters-in-law Sandy Lounsbury and Cathy Wiegand; his nephew and godson, Mark Wiegand; and his nieces, Heather Albertson and Kristina Poulsen. Funeral services for Clifford will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church (2065 Geneva Street, Racine, WI 53402) visitation 10am and service at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Clifford's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and Cancer Society.
