David G. Keiser

David G. Keiser RACINE-David Gregg Keiser, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2016, at Froedtert Hospital. He was a generous, kind, gentle person with an incredible sense of humor, and had the ability to make everyone around him feel comfortable and respected. David was born in Yonkers, NY, on December 7, 1922, the oldest son of Armilda Brome Keiser and Victor H. Keiser, Sr. David and his family lived in two Indiana towns, moving to Williams Bay, WI when he was twelve. He graduated with the class of 1939 from Williams Bay High School, and attended UW-Madison. To earn additional college money, he and his brother Jack drove to California to work in a factory which produced B-25 Liberators. He was then drafted into the US Army, and served from 1943-1946. During that time, his father was a Navy chaplain, his brother Jack a glider pilot later killed in action, and his mother and young brother moved to NY to further their schooling. He grew up in a family that valued education and compassion for others. He typed scripts for WHA while in college and typed manuscripts of his mother's. After graduating from college, he worked as an auditor for the State of Wisconsin and made good friends with Pete and Sally Blum. In 1951, he moved to Racine and worked at Thrifty Sandy's for many years as bookkeeper/salesperson. He then worked as an auditor at Walker Manufacturing and J. I. Case Company. After retirement, he volunteered with Toys for Tots and Racine Literacy Council, and flourished as househusband and grandfather. David was a loyal member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. While at Thrifty Sandy's, he met Jean M. Lund; they were married on July 3, 1959 and had two children. They spent 43 wonderful years together, until her death on October 27, 2002. Dave is survived by his son, Jon E. Keiser (Shelley) of Racine, and daughter Nancy L. Keiser of Madison, along with five granddaughters: Michaela Gutierrez (Ezequiel), Natasha Keiser, Elaina Keiser, Kayley Nielsen, and Delaney Nielsen; as well as sisters-in-law Carolynn Bass of Racine and Lynn Marie Lund of LaCrosse; siblings Victor H. Keiser, Jr. (Betty), R. Lincoln Keiser (Jule Crawford), Jeffrey Keiser (Deborah), David Martin (Amy), Rebekah Fralich (Elmer), Philip Martin, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother John B. (Jack) Keiser, his parents, grandson Alexander Keiser, step-mother Charlotte Keiser, sisters-in-law Joan Sargent, Susan Lund, Patti Martin, and brothers-in-law Dale Sargent and Phillip Lund; and good friends Edith and Chuck D'Acquisto. Dave was a wonderful, supportive, and accepting parent and grandfather, and friend to many. He had an incredibly witty and warm personality, and loved his family deeply. He mostly enjoyed being with his family, and took great pride in them. He loved annual trips to Door County. He loved movies and television, and had a lifelong appreciation of good music, including Stan Kenton, Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Wonder. He loved talking about current events, and reminiscing about childhood adventures, telling family stories, going out to eat, and taking bus trips to the theatre. Dave’s funeral service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 2417 Drexel Ave. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Elias Nasari officiating. Visitation will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and will continue at church on Friday from 12 noon until service time. The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Langenstroer, Jessica Motl, PA, and the Froedtert staff, who provided wonderful care to Dave; Dr. Tanvir Bajwa of St. Luke's Hospital, and Kerstie, RN; and Dr. Richard Pierce-Ruhland.
