Eugene 'Tod' Linstroth

RACINE-Eugene 'Tod' Linstroth, 88, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care-All Saints on Sunday June 13, 2010. Tod was born in Racine on September 15, 1921 the son of Edward and Florence (nee: Eisner) Linstroth. He was a graduate of Park High School 'Class of 1939'. Tod was united in marriage to Gloria Christensen on March 4, 1943 in Polacois, Texas. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, involved in the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge, and was stationed in Germany. Tod was employed as a U.S. Postal Carrier, retiring in 1980 after many years of service. He was a former member of St. Edward's Catholic Church, was very involved in Ives Grove Senior Golf League and the Winchester Gun Club. Being an avid outdoorsman, Tod had a passion for deer hunting and Canadian fishing. He was an accomplished handball player, enjoyed square dancing with his beloved wife Gloria, with the Fiddle Stompers Square Dance Club and was very proud that he built his own home, which he lived in for over 54 years. Tod is surivived by sons, Tod (Jane) Linstroth of Madison, John Linstroth and James (Joan) Linstroth all of Raymond, nine grandchildren, Katy, Krista (Erik) Szyndlar, Kassie, Kyle, Kelly, Matt, Tricia, Brian (Lisa) and Megan and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Madeline, and his dear friend and care giver, Anna Polasz. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends, especially his canine companion, Whitey Jr. Funeral services for Tod will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1425 Grove Ave. on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 11a.m. Tod will be laid to rest next to his wife, Gloria, at Calvary Cemetery on Kinzie Ave. There will be a visitation at Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 until 7 p.m. and at church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wisconsin Parkinson Association, Aurora Sinai Medical Center, 945 North 12th Street, Suite 4602, Milwaukee, WI 53233 have been suggested by Linstroth family. The Linstroth family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Anna Polasz for her loving devotion and care given to Tod over the years.
