Harry Kingsfield

Harry Kingsfield CALEDONIA - Harry Kingsfield, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at his caregiver's home, surrounded by his family. He was born at home in Racine on December 22, 1927. Upon his mother Grace's death from childbirth, he was lovingly raised by Clarence and Clara Kuiper. Harry graduated from Racine Christian School in 1942. He was married to his grade school sweetheart, Nellie Kuiper, at the Racine Christian Reformed Church on October 17, 1947. They were married for 68 years. They farmed together until retirement. He also worked for the Village of Caledonia as a highway worker for 13 years. He loved his Lord, and was a lifelong member of Racine Christian Reformed Church. Harry loved working the fields. He could fix almost anything that his family, friends, and neighbors would bring to him. His hobby was inventing things for his girls to enjoy. He was a good listener, and always willing to help others. He will be dearly missed by his wife and best friend, Peternella "Nellie" Kingsfield, daughters, Peggy (Dennis) Pedersen, Sandra (Kenneth) Heaney, and Judy (Michael) Miller, all of Racine; grandchildren, Joshua (Olivia) Pedersen, Nicole (Matt) Pedersen, Mindy (Joshua) Menk, Kristen (Kane) Baker, Amber (Richard) Trethewey, Kaitlin (Jeff) Nelson, Jessica Miller, and Melissa Miller; great grandchildren, Emma, Ansley, Bear, and Stella Pedersen, Nellie and Pearl Menk, Hadley and Sullivan Baker, and Finley Trethewey, stepbrother, John Berd. He will also be missed by many other relatives and special friends. Harry was preceded in death by daughter, Terri; parents, William and Grace (Marie) Kingsfield, Clarence and Clara Kuiper, siblings, Sadie (Charles) Dykstra, Gerhart (Geraldine) Kingsfield, Tina (Jacob Kramer) Kortendick, Samuel (Rena) Kingsfield, Peter (Elaine) Kingsfield, Paternella (Jerry) Brixus, and Betty (Oscar Sandal) (Jerry) Hansen. A Christian burial service will be held at the Racine Christian Reformed Church, 900 Illinois St. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Doug Aldrink officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Harry will be laid to rest at West Lawn Memorial Park in a private family ceremony. A special thank you to Harry's loving caregivers, Ken and Peppa Veltchev, and to Bob Olley, a dear friend who checked on Harry and Nellie daily. Memorials can be made to Racine Christian Reformed Church, Racine Christian School, or Caledonia Historical Society.
