Robert Eugene McDougal

Robert Eugene McDougal passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 21, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on March 2, 1933, in Muscoda, Wisconsin, Bob lived his life with a carefree spirit and a genuine appreciation for every moment. He was the cherished son of the late Hugh McDougal and Nona (Madden) McDougal. On March 26, 1951, Bob was united in marriage to Bonnie Twesme, the love of his life. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Bob spent the majority of his life in Racine, where he worked for several lumber companies before retiring in 1991. Retirement opened the door to new adventures, and Bob and Bonnie eagerly embraced the opportunity to travel throughout the western United States, with frequent visits to Florida. Among their most treasured times were the moments spent up north in Eagle River, surrounded by family. Bob found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. His favorite pastimes included snowmobiling, boating, fishing, deer hunting, woodworking, and the occasional trip to the casino. He took pride in crafting many beautiful bird feeders, gifts that will remain lasting reminders of his generosity and skill. Bob also had a love for cooking and baking. He was especially known for his ham on the grill and his many delicious apple dishes, which became favorites among family and friends. Bob will be remembered as a devoted father, loving husband, proud grandpa, and a treasured son, brother, uncle, and friend. In celebrating the life of Bob we remember a man who always lived life to the fullest, carrying a positive attitude and a laugh that could brighten anyone’s day. He will be dearly missed, but his warmth, humor, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a lasting legacy through his family: his two daughters, Rosemary (Thomas) Petersen and Jean (William) Mueller; his daughter-in-law, Anna Alfano McDougal (James McDougal, his son, who preceded him in death in 2019); and his five grandchildren, Kevin (Julie Zaja) Fegler, Karla Fegler, Scott (Kristin) Petersen, Hayden McDougal, and Domenic McDougal. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Marcella Loomis, Audrey Petersen, and Kora Petersen. As well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bonnie, in 1998; his parents, Hugh and Nona McDougal; his siblings, Bernadine (George) McDaniel, William (Louisa) McDougal, Shirley (Frank) Klauser, and Mildred (John) Benish; his mother- and father-in-law, Geraldine and Ernest Twesme; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Duane and Dorothy Twesme, and Ed and Erlene Baker. Cheers to you, Pops! Enjoy your happy hour — it’s 5 o’clock (or 4!) somewhere! Funeral services will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at 12 noon. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from11 a.m. until time of service. Bob will be laid to rest beside his wife at West Lawn Memorial Park in a private ceremony.
