William "Bill" M. Hansen

William "Bill" M. Hansen, 68, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Hospice Alliance Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie with his loving partner and Groth family members by his side. As always, Bill gave it his all right to the end but lost the battle with an aggressive form of lung cancer that spread to the brain within days. Bill was born on May 4, 1957 to William and Pearl (nee: Hyde) Hansen. He was a 1975 graduate of William Horlick High School. Bill worked in production for S.C. Johnson for over 38 years and was a member of the 20 Year Club. Bill was an avid antique collector since childhood, and loved gardening. He also loved tending to his Koi pond. Most of all, Bill was always there to help someone in need without even being asked. Bill loved to travel. Bill and Bob took Bill’s parents to Hawaii for their 50th wedding anniversary, spending 10 days taking in all the beauty. The following year they took Bill’s parents to New Orleans and Las Vegas for shows, tours and a little gambling to complete their anniversary gift. He will be deeply missed by his partner of 48 years, Robert "Bob" Groth; mother, Pearl Hansen; only sibling, one brother, Greg Hansen and wife, along with their two remaining children. Bob’s sister Karen Groth; who Bill often referred to as a dear friend and the sister he always wanted and considered her a sister-in-law. His loving canine companions, Barney and Rosie, other family members on the Groth side who truly loved Bill and considered him family, also friends too numerous to mention by name. Bill is preceded in death by his father, William Hansen; Uncle, Richard "Dick" Hansen; and niece, Brianna Hansen. Along with Bob’s Father and Mother who Bill treated as his own, Bob’s two brothers, Fred and Dave and one sister-in-law Lilian Groth. In lieu of flowers, memorials to HOPE Safe House, American Cancer Society or to Bob would be appreciated. Bob would like to thank the staff at Ascension All Saints Cancer Center and Hospice Alliance Hospice House for the wonderful care they gave Bill. He felt as close to home as one could be at a time like this. The staff went above and beyond to ease his journey. Also, a heart filled thank you to the Groth family, neighbors and friends who helped us through these difficult times. Your support through prayer, reaching out to talk and bring comfort in addition to offering unlimited help wherever needed, was amazing, much appreciated and will be forever remembered. Funeral services for Bill will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 18th at 3:30PM. There will be visitation from 2:00PM until the time of service. A Celebration of Life Reception will take place following the service. Bill will be laid to rest at the Mound Cemetery Mausoleums in a private ceremony.
